Isthmus Cover (January 2023)

The Isthmus is an independent local paper in Madison, WI. It is the go-to source for important news and happenings around the area. In December 2022, I was asked to illustrate the cover for the January Issue. It was a challenge creating a cover that was visually interesting, distinctly Madison, and unique. Many other illustrators came before me, so I found my personal challenge was creating a cover that had not been done. In the end, I decided to go with a theme that is very Madison - the lake walk. If you're from the area, you know every year there are activities held on the frozen lake, as well as people who go for walks across it. Is it dangerous? Probably. Do the residents care? Mostly no.
